Health Information

It is important for every team member to assume that tap water is not safe to drink. Only drink purified water. Bottled drinking water can easily be bought in Ghana. You may also consider bringing a water purifier.

Other common health concerns are:

Dehydration - Be sure to bring at least one water bottle and drink lots of water throughout the day.

Sunburn - Many times the sun is much more intense at our destination than back home.Sunburns can develop quickly, so we recommend that sunscreen frequently be used.

Exhaustion - Jet lag, long days of activities and short nights of sleep require team members to pace themselves.

Insurance and Safety

Short-term mission insurance will be provided for each team member.

Weather

Accra has a tropical savanna climate with dry winters. The area within 25 miles of this city is covered by oceans and seas (68%), croplands (19%), and marshes (11%). October is characterized by daily high temperatures, with daily highs of 87°F.

Money

The currency in Ghana is the Cedi.  The exchange rate is approximately 4.67; it does change slightly daily.
